Earning Money in the Summer

For many of us, the summer seems like all we are obligated to do, is too lay in the warm sand, go surfing, get a tan, or go shopping. That seems pretty fun (maybe not the shopping) but most of these activites need money to fuel them. For example, surfing is expensive, you need wax, a board, a leash, a wetsuit, and to top it off, a board! none of those things are cheap. You need to get some money, and as you learned in my earlier post, money takes work to get. The summer is the oppertune time to earn some money.
There are many ways to earn money in the summer. You could mow peoples lawns, you could do chores for your parents, you could get a job. most of those suggestions would be pretty flexible, and you could do them when you wanted too. But getting a job would take up a lot of time, and you would probally get the most money out of it. A tip that i have is, get a job that you can walk too. Your parents probally wouldnt want to drive you everyday, and bus tickets would add up a lot, if you have a car, then you would be using a lot of gas. The best idea is to get a job that you can walk too.
There are a few other options that are aviable that would have very flexible hours. One is taking online surveys. Most surveys are just for adults, but i found a few that are for teens http://www.online-paid-surveys.net/teen-surveys.htm
another idea is too start a blog. Blogging is not easy, as i am learning. It takes a long time to figure out how to work, and it can get dull very easily. The trick is to write something that you know a lot about, and that your passionite about. Making money from blogging takes a long time, you get money for however many times people click on the links and advertisments. Its a lot of fun if you like what your writing about, and if your passionite about it.

myths of money

In our current day and age, their are lots of scams and lies going around. I am writing about a few of them, so that you, my readers do not fall into the trap of no money, or dare i say it? debt.

1. Get Rich quick:
TV and the internet is riddeled with advertisments and infomericals that tell you how you can become a millionaire in weeks and live a life or luxery without lifting a finger. This is a downright lie. A life of wealth and peace can almost never be earned without hard work. there are some exceptions: a giant bonus or a inheritance, but this is very rare. The millionairs of today did not get their wealth easily, they had to work their fingers to the bone and save every penney. always ignore the get rich quick schemes.

2. Gold will save you:
Schemers will try to get you hooked in the gold market, and when they try, please ignore them. They tell you that when the market crashes, gold will be unbelivably valuable, lies. Gold has been proven to be a shaky market, and when Americas economy has gone down the tube, gold was not a good investment at all, it was proven to just be a waste of money for the gullibale. here is a link to a website i found about gold: http://www.newswithviews.com/Devvy/kidd279.htm

3. Credit cards:
Teenagers are the number one target of the big credit card companies. They think that all teenagers are extremely not money-savy, they arent expecting you to have read this blog. The truth is, most teens like to spend money. I am extremely guilty of this, that rush that i get when i hand that cashier that ten dollar bill for something frivilous is exciting and edicting, but luckly my addiction is always kept in check because i dont always have the money that i would like. The big credit card companies have any easy solution to make my addiction always avaliable to me: a little plastic card. With one swipe, i can buy anything i want, or at least until i max out the card and am swimming in debt. The best solution to this is, dont get a credit card, and always use cash

Introduction

Hello readers, my name is Taylor Howson. I am a fifteen year old sophmore that goes to a public highschool. I am a normal teen, growing up in a normal cultare, with normal (mostly) friends. As i have been living my life, i have noticed a problem that my peers and I have, and that problem is: money.

in this blog, i will present information, that can help teens to save there money, and get to do more fun activites. one simple tip that helps adults who are living on their own and have careers is: live on less then you earn. this is a wonderfull tip, but sadly it doesnt work on us teens. most of us have all of our necesities bought for us by our parents. if we could just live on the bare necesities, that would be great. but sadly we can not. we need entertainment, and most entertainment is not free. For example: say that all of your friends are going to go see the Dark Night, and you go up to your mom or dad and say "can i borrow ten bucks for the movies?" some lucky teens parents would give them the ten bucks and say "have a great time! enjoy the movie." but for the rest of us, we have to work, and earn, and save for that movie ticket.

in this blog, i will teach you how to work, and earn, and save enough money for that movie ticket.
